Portion Of Somerville Community Path To Close Monday

The path will be detoured for improvements ahead of an official ribbon cutting ceremony next week.

SOMERVILLE, MA – On Monday, May 22, a portion of the Somerville Community Path will be closed so city contractors can add topsoil to the newly paved segment. The section between Davis Square and Cedar Street will be detoured down Morrison Avenue, which provides access to Highland Road, Willow Avenue and Grove Street.

This work is the final step in the repaving process and the path will be fully open for use at the end of the work day on May 22.

A ribbon cutting event to officially reopen the path is slated for 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 25 on the path at the Lexington Street Park. Light refreshments will be served. Repaving of this section is funded by the Community Preservation Act. With additional CPA funds the city is also hiring a design consultant to develop additional improvements for the path.
