SOMERVILLE, MA – It's a bet that would make a bookie's mouth water. Or anybody's, for that matter.
One Somerville bakery has challenged an Atlanta cake shop to a sweet Super Bowl wager. The stakes? A cake.
On Sunday the Patriots will vie for their fifth ring against the Falcons, and Lyndell's Bakery has decided to turn the heat up on Atlanta's Piece of Cake, Inc. Lyndell's challenged Piece of Cake to a friendly bet on Twitter – well, friendly if you like your opponent proudly displayed on a cake in the immediate aftermath of a crushing loss.

Piece of Cake wasted no time in getting back, saying it would #riseup (the Falcons' equivalent of "Do Your Job"?) to the challenge. Once Lyndell's laid out the stakes – the losing team has to display a themed cake of the winning team in its store for two weeks – Piece of Cake agreed, but not without getting in a ruthless dig at its opponent:
@lyndellsbakery We're in! Just as long as the cake isn't deflated.

So there you have it. Not only will the Pats be playing for their fifth Lombardi Sunday, they'll also be fighting for the integrity of inflated cakes.
