Somerville Bar's 'Black Lives Matter' Display Vandalized

Photos from Trina's Starlite Lounge showed graffiti painted over several signs, including one reading "Black Lives Matter."

SOMERVILLE, MA — A popular Somerville cocktail bar recently had several signs vandalized, including two supporting the "Black Lives Matter" movement. Photos posted to the Trina's Starlite Lounge Facebook page Aug. 21 showed graffiti scribbled over parts of its storefront, including a window display reading "Black Lives Matter" and a sign that read "No Justice No Peace."

The vandalism also included "F.U." written on the "No Justice No Peace" sign. The graffiti had been washed off by that evening.

Amid offers to help pay for the damages, the Trina's team encouraged customers and supporters to donate to nonprofits like the Marsha P. Johnson Institute and other Black charity organizations in the restaurant's name.
