Somerville Basketball 1,000-Point Club Gets Third Member
A Highlander made local history this week when he joined the ranks of players who have scored over 1,000 points.

SOMERVILLE, MA – A Somerville High School basketball player made local history this week when he passed the 1,000-point milestone in a game against Everett Feb. 13. Lucas Saint-Jean is one of just three boys to score at least 1,000 points, alongside 1950 graduate Ronnie Perry Sr. and 2010 graduate Franklin Salvador.
Perry, who finished his high school career with 1,156 points, went on to play basketball and baseball at Holy Cross alongside future Celtics Togo Palazzi and Tom Heinsohn, according to the Somerville Journal. He later coached and became athletic director at Holy Cross.
Salvador played three years at Thomas College in Maine. He was the 2011 North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year and made the all-conference team in 2012, later traveling to Europe, the Journal reported.
