SOMERVILLE, MA — Somerville city councilor J.T. Scott is endorsing his colleague Will Mbah for mayor.

"Serving on the City Council, Will has shown compassion and courage time and again. He's been a champion of true equity and a much-needed voice for the working class and marginalized
communities," Scott said in a statement. "Faced with tough decisions, he listens - and then he speaks plainly from his heart and his truth. He's shown that he has the charisma, character, and clarity of vision to be a great Mayor of Somerville."

Mbah, a city councilor-at-large, formally launched his campaign for mayor April 2. In his announcement speech, he emphasized the importance of acting on housing affordability and pressing environmental issues, which have been a key focus of his work on the City Council.
