Somerville Diverts From State Reopening Plan

The city will remain in Phase 3, Step 1, keeping capacity limits at 25 percent and gatherings to no more than 10 people.

SOMERVILLE, MA — Somerville will not join the rest of the state in moving to Phase 3, Step 2 of reopening on March 1. The city will remain in the limited Phase 3, Step 1 stage until at least March 15.

This means capacity limits for local businesses will remain at 25 percent, or the limit set in the approved health and safety plan. Gatherings will also be restricted to no more than 10 people.

Starting March 1, Gov. Charlie Baker will lift the percent seated capacity limit on restaurants, and live music will be allowed. Restaurants will still be required to keep tables six feet apart, enforce a maximum of six people per table and place a 90-minute limit on tables.
