Somerville Drug Overdose Leads to Fight With Cops: Police

An Arlington man overdosed on heroin in East Somerville and then fought with responding officers July 9.

SOMERVILLE, MA - An Arlington man overdosed on heroin in East Somerville and then fought with responding officers July 9, police said.

Gregory Williams, 31, of 107 Bow St., Arlington, was laying on the ground in front of 78 Broadway with a woman standing over him, police said. As officers approached he abruptly got up and refused help, police said.

Williams had allegedly refused to leave a nearby resident’s apartment and police warned him he had to leave. Police said Williams was walking away from police when he suddenly swung and struck an officer.

He was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest disorderly conduct and trespassing.
