Somerville Father, Son To Be Remembered Together

SOMERVILLE, MA – An area father and son who passed away in March will be remembered together next week. Walter Quinn, 87, formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully March 13. His son, Stephen, 62, died unexpectedly March 31, according to his obituary.

Calling hours are April 12, followed by a funeral service April 13.

QUINN, Walter J. – 87, Originally of Somerville, most recently of Lowell, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2018. Dear husband of the late Sandra Chaffee. Beloved son of the late Helen (Manning) & William Quinn. Loving father of the late Stephen W. Quinn and Michael J. Quinn and his wife Elizabeth of Plymouth. Beloved stepfather of Nancy Altavilla of Chelmsford, Warren Chaffee of ME, Robert Chaffee of NH & Paul Chaffee of FL. Brother of Willian Quinn and his wife MaryJane of Reading, James Quinn and his wife Maureen of Wakefield, and the late Edith Schrage, Mary, Joseph, and Robert Quinn. Dear grandfather of Casey & Shauna Quinn, Kristen Perkins, Taryn Sheaffer, Michael, Debbie, Ryan, and Lauren. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Calling hours will be held for Walter alongside his son Stephen W. Quinn who passed away on March 31, 2018, at the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Thursday (4/12) from 4-8 pm. Relatives and friends invited. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for both father and son, in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 179 Summer St., Somerville on Friday morning (4/13) at 10:00 am. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Walter’s memory to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516. Walter was a U.S. Army veteran and proudly served in The Korean War.

Loving brother of Michael J. Quinn and his wife Elizabeth of Plymouth. Stepbrother of Nancy Altavilla of Lowell, Kathleen LaBruna and her husband Vincenzo of Saugus, and Mary Startz of AZ. Dear Uncle of Casey and Shauna Quinn both of Plymouth. Also survived by many extended family and friends.

Calling Hours will be held for Stephen alongside his father, Walter J. Quinn who passed away on March 13, 2018, at the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Thursday 4/12 from 4-8 pm. Relatives and friends invited.
