Somerville Restaurant Re-Emerges After Months-Long Closure

True Bistro in Teele Square closed "until further notice" in September, alluding to the impact of the pandemic on independent restaurants.

SOMERVILLE, MA — A decade-old vegan restaurant in Teele Square has reopened, months after it shuttered at the height of the pandemic's stranglehold on the food industry.

True Bistro closed Sept. 6 "until further notice," with a statement on the restaurant's Facebook page alluding to the impact of the pandemic on independent eateries:

"The best way that you can take action to protect independent restaurants, is to contact your local representative about the Restaurants Act and ask that they pass this business-saving legislation. If you're interested, more information on the Restaurants Act is available at saverestaurants.com. Thank you!"

As of March 24, True Bistro is offering takeout for dinner four nights a week and for brunch on Sundays.
