A former Somerville High School student has sued the City of Somerville after a slew of individuals accused him of raping a soccer teammate at a sports clinic back in 2013, according to the Boston Globe.

Galileo Mondol, 19, was accused of raping a teammate with a broomstick as part of a hazing ritual. Now that the case against him has been dropped, Mondol is looking to clear his name. According to the newspaper, he filed a $1 million suit on Friday week against Somerville.

According to Mondol, Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone was among many who pushed to have him charged in connection to the crime. Mondol denied all accusations against him and the case was tossed out of court in April.

Mondol’s suit against the City claims town officials were aware of the soccer team’s hazing ritual.
