Somerville Weather: 4 Inches of Snow, Rainout Coming

A spring snowstorm dropped four inches on Somerville; rain is on the way later this week.

SOMERVILLE, MA -Somerville rang in spring with almost four inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

The first day of spring was Sunday, when snow developed at night and forced Somerville school officials to cancel classes. Schools will reopen Tuesday.

The snow caused delays at Logan Airport. Few crashes were reported on major highways. Worcester received the most snow with about 7.5 inches.

Looking ahead to Somerville's weather forecast later this week, rain will set in. Here's the latest forecast:

  • Wednesday: Overnight drizzles. High 58, low 38.
  • Thursday: Morning drizzles. High 57, low 41.
  • Friday: Light rain until the evening. High 61, low 43.

Things will clear up for Saturday but the rain could rear its ugly head again on Sunday.
