This Weekend in Somerville: Jimmy Tingle's 'Making Comic Sense of 2013'

Some things to do in and around Somerville this weekend.

Jimmy Tingle's Making Comic Sense of 2013: The Year in 90 Minutes
Okay, so this is happening near Somerville, but it features local favorite Jimmy Tingle, who will take a look back at the year 2013, focusing on its "unfortunate political atmosphere," according to the listing. He performs Saturday at 8 p.m. at The Regent Theatre in Arlington, 7 Medford St.

Winter Farmers Market

The market is from 9:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at The Center for Arts at the Armory.

Champagne Wine Tasting
Head to Ball Square Fine Wines Saturday for some wine tasting, including tastings of champagne, just in time for New Year's Eve. The tasting is from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

More Bubbly Tasting
Taza Chocolate is also hosting some wine tasting this weekend. The Somerville chocolate mecca will be hosting 90+ Cellars on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. This "Toast the New Year" event will feature samples of Prosecco a Moscato—also great, fun choices for New Year's Eve parties.

David Johnston
The musician plays Saturday at 4 p.m., also at The Center for Arts at the Armory.

Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction
The listing says, "Each show features 10 comics, writing and performing Erotic Fan Fiction pieces, based on their whims or audience suggestions. It's really stupid." It's Saturday at Davis Square Theatre, 255 Elm St., at 8 p.m.

Live Music at Precinct
If you're in the mood for some post-Christmas live music, head to Precinct in Union Square Saturday night, where five bands will be performing. There are also performances this weekend at Johnny D's, Sally O'Brien's, Bull McCabe's and elsewhere.
