Tufts Ignores Months of Protests, Fires Janitors Anyway

Tufts Daily reports the university will go ahead with planned custodial layoffs.

Despite several months of protest marches, a hunger strike, and numerous attempts on the part of Tufts labor activists to convince the administration to do otherwise, word came in Monday that Tufts will layoff 20 members of its custodial staff over the next three months, as its been planning to do since November.

It had been previously reported that Tufts planned to cut 35 jobs. It is presently unknown whether the drop to 20 was part of a compromise of some kind.
