Unlicensed Somerville Man Arrested For OUI After Head-On Crash

Police said Kieran Horkan was driving drunk when he crossed a double yellow line and slammed head-on into another vehicle.

An unlicensed driver from Somerville was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol after injuring another motorist in a head-on crash in Marshfield.

On Wednesday, Oct. 28, Marshfield officers responded to Plain Street around 10 p.m. to tend to the crash.

Kieran Horkan, 37, of Somerville, crossed the double yellow line and crashed directly into an oncoming vehicle, the Marshfield Mariner reports. Witnesses reportedly told police that Horkan was traveling at a high rate of speed while going in and out of lanes.

The 38-year-old victim was transported to a Boston area hospital, where they underwent surgery.

Debris from the crash was found 60 feet from the scene, the newspaper reports. Both cars sustained “major” damage.

A responding officer reportedly found Horkan lying in the street in an unresponsive state. After receiving medical attention, he started breathing again. The victim was removed from the wreckage with the Jaws of Life.

According to Marshfield police, Horkan was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, which marked his second offense. He was also charged with marked lanes violation, speeding, negligent operation, unlicensed operation, and causing serious injury.
