VNA Community Hosts Capuano, Richtman, Valeri on SS & Medicare
VNA Seniors Discuss Future of Social Security, Medicare with Congressman Capuano, SS Committee Chair Richtman and MA Retiree's Pres. Valeri

The Alewife Brook Parkway VNA Senior Living Community hosted a lively discussion on Friday, June 6th. Seniors from the residence did not shy away from sharing their experiences and forthright opinions concerning Social Security and Medicare with the distinguished panel in attendance- Congressman Mike Capuano, local Democrat; Max Richtman, Chairman of The Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare; MA Retired Employees President Frank Valeri; and host Linda Cornell, President and CEO of The VNA of Eastern Massachusetts and its communities. After the meeting, the guests toured the community, visiting its newly renovated model apartments and greeting residents.
The gentlemen, in support of The Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, requested this meeting to learn more about seniors' experiences with the programs and to impress upon them the importance of planning now for the health of these programs into the future. Not surprisingly, much of the conversation revolved around funding concerns, that both programs might suffer cuts in this administration's budgets. All were in agreement that being an informed citizen and voter remain the strongest powers individuals have to influence government and reminded that their participation is crucial.
