Week in Review: Inauguration Speeches Outline City's Priorities

Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone was sworn into a sixth consecutive term in office Monday, an achievement unprecedented in Somerville history. Five new members of the Somerville Board of Aldermen and three new members of the Somerville School Committee were also sworn in. Here's some coverage:

Green Line Planners in Discussions with Track Abutters
A series of meetings kicked off this week about noise and retaining walls along the Green Line Extension. The light-rail system's planners have begin individual discussions with more than 200 homeowners along the train tracks to inform owners what's happening and, in some cases, arrange for access to private property to construct the subway line. In other Green Line Extension news, the project was included in the governor's five year Transportation Capital Investments Plan.

Boston Breakers Leave Somerville
The professional women's soccer team announced this week it wouldn't play in Somerville during the 2014 season, after spending two years at Dilboy Stadium. The team will now play at Harvard Stadium.

Davis Square Restaurants See Monster Tax Increase, Say Aldermen
Commercial property owners in Somerville recently received tax bills, and many of them, especially restaurants in Davis Square. have seen their taxes double, according to members of the Somerville Board of Aldermen.
