Whitey Bulger's Girlfriend to Plead Guilty to Contempt Charges

Catherine Greig is already serving an 8-year sentence after her time on the run with the notorious gangster.

SOMERVILLE, MA — James “Whitey” Bulger’s longtime girlfriend is expected to plead guilty to criminal contempt for allegedly refusing to divulge information about other people who assisted the notorious Boston mobster during the 16 years he spent as a fugitive.

Catherine Greig, 64, is already serving and eight-year prison sentence for harboring a fugitive and identity fraud. She and Bulger spent several years on the run, evading law enforcement after the gangsters multiple murders.

Greig refused to testify before a grand jury during an investigation into “third parties” who aided and harbored Bulger between the years of 1995 and 2011, according to an indictment filed in court. Greig was living with Bulger when they were captured in Santa Monica, California, in 2011.

Bulger, the notorious leader of the Winter Hill Gang, is serving life in prison after he was convicted in connection to 11 murders in 2013, among other crimes.
