Big 2-Month Route 20 Detour Begins

Traffic will be detoured around a two-mile stretch of Route 20 between Wayland and Sudbury.

WAYLAND, MA — A major water main replacement project along Route 20 kicked off on Monday night, and that means nightly detours for drivers until at least early December.

Starting at 9 p.m. each night, westbound traffic will use Route 27 and River Road to get around the construction work, which is taking place just west of the Stop and Shop plaza.

The detours will remain in place until 5 a.m. each day. There will be a road-closed sign at the west end of the project area near Andrews Avenue, and a "local traffic only" sign near the Stop and Shop, according to the Department of Public Works.
