Lightning Strike In Wayland Leaves Hundreds Without Power
The lightning strike happened along Route 30 near the Natick border during storms Tuesday.
WAYLAND, MA — Hundreds of people lost power after a lightning strike in Wayland Tuesday evening.
The lightning struck a power transformer in the area of Route 30 near Mel's Commonwealth Café, according to town officials.
There were about 592 Wayland Eversource customers without power around 7 p.m., according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency. Officials did not immediately provide a restoration time.

Tuesday's strong storms were over by 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, although there is a chance of more severe weather later in the week.
