Caravan In Wayland Will Honor Officer Chris Cohen

WAYLAND, MA — Wayland on Friday will hold a drive-by ceremony for officer Chris Cohen, who died unexpectedly over the weekend.

The caravan will pass by the Bryant Funeral Home, where Cohen's family will be holding a private wake. Cohen joined Wayland police in 1996 after graduating from Wayland schools, and served in a variety of roles over his 25-year career, including detective, crime scene technician and arson investigator.

Friday's caravan will begin at the Wayland Middle School overflow lot at 1:30 p.m. Cars will leave the lot at around 1:40 p.m. led by a police car. Cohen's family will be standing outside the Bryant Funeral Home during the drive-by memorial.

A private funeral will also be held Friday at St. Zepherin's Church beginning at 2:45 p.m. The event is closed to the public, but police will be diverting traffic near Bradford Street and Pemberton Road, according to the department.
