Eugene Thornberg, Executive Chef at Babson College, Dies at 61 From Bicycle Accident

WAYLAND, MA— Eugene Gregory Thornberg, 61, died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 16, 2016, from injuries sustained in a bicycling accident. He was born on March 29, 1955 in Waterbury, CT a son of Eugene H. Thornberg and Joan M. (Hirbour) Thornberg. Gene was the devoted husband of Patrice L. (McCormick) Thornberg of Wayland.
He was the loving father of Patrick E. Thornberg of Parris Island, SC. He was the dedicated son of Eugene H. Thornberg and Joan M. (Hirbour) Thornberg of Waterbury, CT and exceptional brother of Mark Thornberg and his wife Julie Thornberg of Anaheim Hills, CA; Allen Thornberg and his wife Lorrie Thornberg of Brewster; Claudette Adams and her husband Lawrence Adams of Oakville, CT; Diane Pleasant and her husband David Pleasant of Thomaston, CT; Maureen Crocker of Framingham; Daren Thornberg and his wife Frances Thornberg of Wolcott, CT and Paul Thornberg and his wife Lorelei Thornberg of Thomaston, CT. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Gene spent his formative years in Waterbury, CT and graduated from Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island.

He had been a resident of Wayland for the past 17 years with his family. He had a dedicated career as an Executive Chef at Babson College in Wellesley. Gene was known to be an exceptional chef and a true artist. He was an avid bike rider and was an outdoor enthusiast. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.
