As Humidity, Heat Increases, Wayland Opens Cooling Center

Over the next several days the Wayland Public Safety building will open the training room for those residents seeking relief from the heat.

WAYLAND, MA—Heat and humidity continue into Friday, and everyone's feeling it. Some areas are going to see temps in the upper 90s, with several locations observing values at or above 100 degrees.

Heat Advisories are posted for those areas with forecast heat indices 95 to 104. Excessive heat warnings are for areas with forecast heat indices 105 and above. In such conditions, with prolonged outdoor heat and exposure there is the risk of heat stress and heat-related illnesses, especially for those not wearing loose, light-weight clothing and/or being in the sun for long periods of time, according to an announcement from the town.

There will be plenty of sunshine with a UV index of 9 or above, say authorities. In addition to conducting heat safety, protection from sun damage is recommended.
