John Anthony Brodeur M.D., 86, of Wayland

Dr. John Anthony Brodeur maintained a private practice near Wayland for more than 30 years and also worked in area emergency rooms.

WAYLAND, MA - John Anthony Brodeur M.D., 86, of Wayland and formerly of Wellesley, died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

He was the beloved husband of the Late Sandra (Joyce) Pallett Brodeur and the late Helen (Flanagan) Brodeur.

A Wayland resident for 18 years and of Wellesley for over 36 years. He was born in Dorchester and the son of the late Harold and Helen (Finn) Brodeur.

Dr. Brodeur maintained a private medical practice in Wellesley for over 30 years as well as maintaining Emergency Room coverage at Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick, Newton Wellesley Hospital and Waltham Hospital. He previously practiced at the former Wiswall Hospital in Wellesley. Dr. Brodeur was an Honorary Board Member Bournwood Hospital in Brookline.

Dr. Brodeur was a graduate of Boston College High School and attended Boston College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pre-medicine. He then went on to attend Ireland Medical School at the University Galway, followed by an internship at Metropolitan Saint Louis Psychiatric Center and residency at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton and Carney Hospital in Boston.

Dr. Brodeur was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War.

He is survived by eight children: Jovan Brodeur of Framingham; John Brodeur Jr. of Waitsfield, VT; Michelle Parkhurst and her husband, Geoffrey, of Natick; Patricia Hays and her husband, Peter, of Warren, VT; Yudy Brodeur of Moretown, VT; Jacquelyn Brodeur of Gunnison, CO; Michael Brodeur of Natick; Paul Brodeur and wife, Lisa, of Natick; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one sister, Ann Brodeur (Sr. Mary Helen) of Jamaica Plain.

He was the brother of the late Harold H. Brodeur Jr. of Atlantic Beach, FL.

Visiting hours are Sunday, March 6 from 2-6 p.m. at John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, Natick, MA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Christian funeral and burial on Monday, March 7 at 10 a.m.. at St. Zepherin Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Wayland, MA.
