Mary Louise Molly Adams: Local Volunteer, Dog Lover, Beloved Friend

Adams worked at Wayland Middle School for 17 years. A memorial service for Adams will be held Saturday, Jan. 30 in Wayland.

WAYLAND, MA - Mary Louise Molly Adams died Jan. 14, 2016 at the age of 91 at home, surrounded by her three children, Jon, Sarah and Laura. She was predeceased by her husband Dwight S. Adams.

In addition to her children, Molly will be missed by her five grandchildren, Bryn, Ian, Lauren, Nathan and Ryan, and two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Nancy Keay and Andy and Sylvia Keay and many relatives and friends.

Molly was born and raised outside Philadelphia where she attended Quaker schools. She graduated from Swarthmore College where she was captain of the field hockey and lacrosse teams. After college, she had a career in personnel at the Curtis Publishing Company.

After meeting her husband Dwight on a tour of the United Nations, they lived in Michigan, Iowa and Wayland where they raised their three children. Molly worked for seventeen years at the Wayland Middle School after receiving her library science degree. She was involved in countless volunteer activities in Wayland including ESL, METCO, Camp Fire Girls and Caring Canines.

Card games, board games and crossword puzzles were passions of Molly’s. She made wonderful friends among her long standing bridge groups (although they were always competitive!) Neighbors young and old often dropped by Molly’s for a glass of wine and games of cribbage or Kings Corner.

Molly loved all animals and was particularly fond of dogs and horses. Growing up she had goats, lambs and chickens and over the span of her life, owned eight collies. Walking in the woods with her dogs was one of Molly’s favorite activities. Molly was a peacemaker and wonderful listener who befriended many and counted her numerous friends as one of lifes true blessings.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the First Parish Church, 50 Cochituate Road, Wayland on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at 9:00 am. A reception will follow afterward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Buddy Dog Humane Society, 151 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA 01776. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home of Wayland.
