Party to Celebrate 30 Years of Wayland Community Access TV

The day will include a chance to help produce a public service announcement.

WAYLAND, MA - Wayland residents are invited to party with WAYCAM to celebrate 30 years of cable television in town.

The indoor and outdoor festivities begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 at the WAYCAM studio located at the Wayland High School Field House.

The fun will include a ribbon cutting, finger foods, Whole Foods cake and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, goodie bags for anyone who signs up for a WayCAM membership and WayCAM apparel for door prizes.

Atendees including children will also have a chance to try out WAYCAM's state-of-the-art technology and even participate in the production of a public service announcement about WAYCAM.

"Tell us what background you’d like and we’ll put you there - whether it’s on a breaking news set or in front of the Eiffel Tower. We’ll save the video on a flash drive so people can have a copy to take home," Jim Mullane, who marks his 20th year with Wayland cable in 2016, said in the announcement.

At 4:45 pm, WayCAM will have 40 minutes of viewings of selected student films produced in the Honors Script-to-Screen class, which have received awards from leading national and international film organizations. WAYCAM also teaches production to handfuls of Wayland student volunteers.
