Police Log: Home and Car Break-Ins; Umbrellas in the Woods

The following information was supplied by the Wayland Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned it does not indicate a conviction.

  • Claypit Hill Road; March 26, 4:38 p.m. – A car accident was reported. 
  • 114 Main St.; March 26, 10:20 p.m. – A caller reported a suspicious person outside Honey Farms.
  • 85 West Plain St.; March 27, 5:53 p.m. – A caller reported someone shot a couple BBs into his window.
  • 237 Main St.; March 27, 6:41 p.m. – A caller reported stolen gas cans.
  • 119 Concord Road; March 27, 7:59 p.m. – A caller reported her home had been broken into. (See related story.) 
  • Boston Post Road; March 28, 12:05 a.m. – Erratic driving was reported. 
  • 8 Springhill Road; March 28, 7:10 a.m. – A car was reported broken into and items taken. (See related story.)
  • 10 Morse Road; March 28, 7:27 a.m. – A car was reported broken into and items taken.
  • 3 Melody Lane; March 28, 8:46 a.m. – A car was reported broken into.
  • 5 Melody Lane; March 28, 9:00 a.m. – A car was reported broken into.
  • 7 Morse Road; March 28, 9:24 a.m. – A car was reported broken into.
  • 8 Morse Road; March 28, 9:31 a.m. – A car was reported broken into.
  • 12 Morse Road; March 28, 9:35 a.m. – A car was reported broken into.
  • 6 Melody Lane; March 28, 12:53 p.m. – A car was reported broken into.
  • 4 Oak Hill Road; March 28, 2:10 p.m. – A caller reported observing two kids heading into the woods with an umbrella and wood from the aqueduct. A hammock, umbrella and umbrella stand were recovered by police. 
  • 22 Woodridge Road; March 28, 2:43 p.m. – A resident called to report a possible breaking and entering. 
  • 173 Boston Post Road; March 28, 3:35 p.m. – A car was reported broken into.
  • 23 Garden Patch; March 28, 7:25 p.m. – A resident complained of signs being taken from his property.
  • 40 Cochituate Road; March 29, 3:42 p.m. – Erratic driving was reported.
  • 160 Oxbow Road; March 29, 4:37 p.m. – A white truck with orange on it was reported as suspicious.
  • 70 Commonwealth Road; March 29, 4:57 p.m. – A car accident occurred. One person was taken to MetroWest Medical Center by ambulance for basic life support. Two cars were towed.
  • 476 Old Connecticut Path, March 30, 1:43 p.m. – A resident reported political signs had been taken from their property.
  • 24 Lee Road; March 30, 2:49 p.m. – A car was reported broken into.
  • 270 Concord Road; March 30, 5:47 p.m. – A caller reported a brush fire. The fire captain reported the permit for the address was to be revoked.
  • 34 Edgewood Road; March 30, 8:41 p.m. – A caller reported a father and son fighting. Jonathan Gegnebin, 21, of 34 Edgewood Road, was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery.
  • 233 Old Connecticut Path; March 31, 2:47 a.m. – A person reported mailboxes in the middle of the road from Wayland High School up to Five Paths. Houses 233, 205, 228, 197 and 191 all had their mailboxes knocked over.
  • 35 Main St.; March 31, 12:49 p.m. – A person was reported trying to pass a false prescription. 
  • 175 Old Connecticut Path; March 31, 1:07 p.m. – A caller reported an occupant in the car in front of him threw an object out the window at a bicyclist. 
  • 33 Old Connecticut Path; April 1, 10:14 a.m. – A caller reported his wife smelled tobacco smoke in her house. He then couldn’t reach her on the phone. Police made contact with the wife and the house checked okay.
  • 8 Astra; April 1, 5:12 p.m. – Suspicious phone calls were reported. 
  • Lake Shore Drive; April 1, 5:16 p.m. – A caller reported a suspicious car. Police were unable to locate the car, but later in the evening found the car and stopped it. The driver said they were campaigning for Ed Markey.
