Trick-or-Treat With 'Creepy' Wayland Town Officials
Come trick-or-treat at Wayland Town Hall on Oct. 28, but beware of the "scary" tax collector.
WAYLAND, MA — Wayland is holding its annual trick-or-treat event at Town Hall on Monday — just make sure you've paid your property tax bill before you bring your kids for treats.
The annual event allows kids to collect treats from various town offices, from parks and recreation to the Treasurer.
"Come in your best costume for treats and fun activities. Come visit your fun-loving Rec Department crew, that scary Treasurer who collects your taxes, or the spooky Assessor who values your home, the Board of Health who probably doesn't recommend candy and treats, and definitely visit those creepy Town Administrators in the Selectmen's office," the parks department wrote in a press release.

Health officials are urging parents to use caution on Halloween this year, and perhaps consider altering typical plans. The threat of Eastern equine encephalitis (and West Nile) is still "critical" in the MetroWest area — and mosquitoes are most active near dusk, the time when trick-or-treaters are also most active.
Wayland's town trick-or-treating event begins at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 28 at Town Hall, 41 Cochituate Road.
