Wayland Concert Series Continues With Greg Hopkins Sixtet Paying Tribute to Ellington, Strayhorn

The series continues with this group led by this legendary trumpet player.

WAYLAND, MA—In its 52nd season, the Wayland Concert Series continues this month with another free show featuring some of the best jazz musicians around.

On Friday, Oct. 7, at 8 p.m., enjoy the Greg Hopkins Six-tet, which features Greg Hopkins, trumpet and flugelhorn; Arnie Krakowsky, tenor sax; Shannon LeClaire, alto sax; Jeff Galindo, trombone; Tim Ray, piano; John Lockwood, bass; Joe Hunt: drums

Berklee Professor Emeritus Greg Hopkins brings his accomplished jazz sextet to perform a tribute to Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, including works such as: "It Don’t Mean a Thing," "Raincheck," "Amad Smada," "Lana Turner (aka: Charpoy)," "Perdido," "Lush Life," "In A Sentimental Mood," "The Little Brown Book," "Caravan" and "Bloodcount."
