Wayland Could Experience Rust-Colored Water

The town will begin a hydrant flushing program on Sunday but some residents may see funky looking water as a result.

WAYLAND, MA - The Town of Wayland will start flushing hydrants on Sunday in an effort to improve the town's water quality. Flushing will begin in the area of the Reeves Hill Water Tank.

Some residents may see discolored or "rusty" looking water. The color is caused by naturally occurring iron minerals that are distributed during the flushing process.

The discolored water is not health-threatening but it could stain fabric or plumbing fixtures.
