Wayland Memorial Day Parade Canceled Due To Coronavirus
The Wayland Public Ceremonies Committee is preparing an alternate way to honor veterans for Memorial Day.
WAYLAND, MA — The Public Ceremonies Committee has decided to cancel the 2020 Memorial Day ceremonies due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The town's annual Memorial Day celebration usually includes a parade that proceeds along Route 27 to Route 30 to the Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate, plus individual tributes at cemeteries around town.
Even without a parade, the Public Ceremonies Committee will oversee the decorating of veterans' graves in Wayland this year.

Wayland isn't alone in canceling spring and summer activities due to coronavirus. Natick has canceled its annual July 4 parade and celebration. Framingham's Flag Day parade was canceled this week, too. Marlborough has also canceled its Memorial Day parade.
Memorial Day will be observed on May 25 this year.
