Wayland Men's Softball League Looking For New Players

Get yourself on a team with your Wayland neighbors.

WAYLAND, MA—From Wayland Men's Softball League: Spring is upon us and so is another season of the Wayland Men’s Softball League. Founded in 2014 by David Pearlman through a word of mouth campaign with six teams, the league has grown to nearly 200 men and is poised to expand even further for the 2018 season.

The league runs through a spring/summer, then a fall season each capped by a playoff series. Games are played at Cochituate Field Thursday and Sunday evenings with each team typically playing one game a week. The teams are comprised of 190 of Wayland neighbors and sponsored by some of the popular Wayland businesses such has the Chateau, Lavelle Painting and the China Rose.

"The league has been great in reminding many of us of our youth, our current limits and in creating a sense of community as we meet and make new friends," said organizer Scot Furlong. "Many of the faces you see will be familiar to you from school functions, youth sports fields, Wayland Dads, church/temple/mosque, the WCPA and the grocery."

Never played before or out of practice, don’t worry; the league is “casually competitive” with many of our new players donning a glove for the first time or having not touched a bat in 10 years.
