Wayland Opens Coronavirus Vaccine Wait List
Town residents can now sign up to get in line for the COVID-19 vaccine. People over age 75 can are the current eligible group.

WAYLAND, MA — Wayland has set up a wait list for eligible groups to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, although health officials are warning that doses are extremely limited at the moment.
Like many surrounding towns, Wayland will get about 100 doses per week. Right now, groups in phase one and the first group in phase two — people over age 75 — are eligible to get inoculated.
Wayland's wait list does not guarantee a shot, just a place in line. Residents don't need an email address, but will need to provide a phone number. Eligible residents can sign up for the wait list on the town's website.

Massachusetts has lagged other states in distributing coronavirus vaccines. The state was giving out vaccines at a rate of about 8.83 doses per 100,000 people as of Monday, according to Bloomberg. That's below the nationwide average of 10 doses per 100,o00.
The state on Monday opened two mass vaccination sites at Gillette Stadium and Fenway Park. Wayland health officials are encouraging residents to seek vaccines at other sites if appointments open up.
