Wayland Route 27 Bridge Reopens
The first part of a rebuild of a bridge connecting Wayland and Sudbury wrapped up on Wednesday.
WAYLAND, MA — Wayland reopened a major Route 27 bridge over the Sudbury River on Wednesday after a more than month-long construction closure.
The bridge, which connects Wayland and Sudbury just west of the Wayland Country Club, closed on Aug. 21. Over the past four weeks, construction crews have been rebuilding the surface of the bridge, which has been deemed to have "serious deficiencies."
The first phase of construction was scheduled to wrap up on Sept. 16.

A second phase will happen at a later date that hasn't been set yet, but will likely be in October and November. During that phase, crews will reconstruct the underside of the bridge, including the wooden supports.
The second phase will require lane closures, but a full bridge closure will be much shorter than in the first phase, according to the DPW.
