WAYLAND, MA — The Wayland School Committee held an emergency meeting over the weekend to decide how to proceed with classes during a rise in local coronavirus cases.

The School Committee ultimately voted to continue hybrid learning in the town — except at Wayland Middle School, which is short a school nurse. The middle school will be remote until at least Jan. 11, according to the district.

In November, the high school and middle school were forced to go remote for a brief period after a rise in school-based cases. As of Christmas Eve, there were 31 active cases in town, the highest dating back to June 1.
