Wayland Student Fundraiser Offers Trick-Or-Treating Alternative

The Wayland High School Tri-M Music Honor Society is planning a Halloween fundraiser that might be safer than trick-or-treating.

WAYLAND, MA — A Halloween fundraiser for Wayland student musicians is billing itself as a good alternative to trick-or-treating as coronavirus cases rise across the state.

The Wayland High School Tri-M Music Honor Society will hold a drive-thru trunk-or-treat event on Oct. 28. Attendees can drive up to the Wayland High School drop-off lanes and pick up bags of goodies (in costume of course) for a suggested $5 donation.

The Tri-M Music Honor Society supports band and orchestra students academically and with performances and community service.

Wayland hasn't explicitly given advice about how to celebrate Halloween amid the coronavirus pandemic. But local towns like Sudbury and Natick have advised against traditional trick-or-treating. The state Department of Public Health is also offering tips for families on how to celebrate the holiday safely.

The Tri-M Music Honor Society Trunk-or-Treat Drive-Thru runs from 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 28 at Wayland High School.
