Wayland Students Create Their Way to Art Awards
Wayland High School students brought home a record number of Scholastic Art Awards this year.

WAYLAND, MA - Wayland High School artists painted, photographed, drew and designed their way to a record 42 Scholastic Art Awards this year.
Among the winners are four “Gold Key Award” recipients whose work was judged to be among the top 3 percent of all competition submissions.
The six ”Silver Key Award” winners submitted work in the top 6 percent of all submissions and “Honorable Mention” recognition was awarded to submissions in the top 10 percent.

Four Wayland High School students, Daria Bobrova, Annice Kim, Calvin Laituri and Larissa Sehringer, were also recognized for their portfolios featuring eight pieces of art.
The Gold Key Award-winning pieces will be exhibited at EF (Education First) Two Education Circle, Cambridge, MA 02141 (near the Science Museum), from March 5–March 20, 2016. Those pieces will also continue electronically on to New York to compete against other Gold Key winners from across the country.

Works were judged on criteria of originality, technical skill, and personal vision or voice by judges who did not know the artists’ names, school affiliations, race, gender or any other distinguishing characteristics.
