Wayland Students Host Virtual 'Hackathon' This Weekend
The Wayland High School Computer Science Club is sponsoring the event, which will feature students coding to solve a big pandemic problem.
WAYLAND, MA — A group of Wayland High School students have organized hackathon open to students across the country aimed at tackling issues related to learning and working remotely during the pandemic.
The Project Reboot hackathon begins Friday and lasts for 24 hours. During that time, high school computer pros of all skill levels will work to build apps, games or websites to help students struggling with remote learning, according to Wayland student and Project Reboot executive director Andrew Boyer.
On Saturday night, the winning teams will be revealed, and more than $3,000 in prizes will be given out in categories like most innovative hack, and the "people's choice" hack. Adult mentors from the tech world will judge the students' technological achievements, including leaders of tech companies like BitSight and True Fit.
