Wayland Teen Seriously Injured In Bicycle Collision

The 13-year-old was flown to a Boston hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

WAYLAND, MA — A Wayland teenager was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a collision with a car.

According to firefighters, the 13-year-old was riding a bicycle when he was hit by a driver in a car. The teen was taken to Boston Children's Hospital via helicopter, the department said.

The collision happened around 4:30 p.m. along Route 27 near Old Connecticut Path, Chief Neil McPherson said. The cause of the collision was still under investigation as of Tuesday evening.

The helicopter landed at Wayland Town Hall before heading to Boston, the fire department said. Sudbury firefighters provided aid to Wayland during the landing.
