Whole Foods Permit Submitted, Building Planned for Sudbury This Fall

The building of Whole Foods at the old Raytheon site is beginning soon.

SUDBURY, MA—Plans are progressing for the new Whole Foods to be built in Sudbury. According to Building Inspector Mark Herweck, the permit for Whole foods has been issued and construction is expected to begin this fall.

Whole Foods Market announced in November of 2015 that the store newly being developed in Sudbury will serve as a relocation of the current Whole Foods Market store in Wayland.

Whole Foods Market Sudbury will be located in the new Meadow Walk Sudbury development at 528 Boston Post Road (Route 20) in Sudbury, the site of the former Raytheon building. The new store will be approximately 40,000 square feet and employ around 225 locally hired, full and part time team members, said the announcement.

In June, Sudbury's Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to approve the development agreement with National Development and Avalon Bay Communities, the developers of the former Raytheon site. The project will also include village-style retail, restaurants, assisted-living and age-restricted condominiums.

The existing Whole Foods Wayland location located at 317 Boston Post Road is approximately 19,200 square feet and employs approximately 125 team members, all of whom have employment opportunities in the Sudbury store.
