Your Guide: 'Walk on Water' in Wayland Saturday

Looking for something to do this weekend? How about a paddle down the Sudbury River.

When was the last time you truly stopped to appreciate the Sudbury River that meanders through parts of Wayland and connects the town to its neighbors and its past?

Saturday could be your chance.

Retire Wayland teacher and advocate for clean rivers Pat Conaway will lead a paddle trip from Saxonville to the Route 20 boat ramp in Wayland.

The trip is a collaboration between the Wayland Walks Initiative of the Wayland 375 Celebration and Conaway's organization, Big Heart Little Feet under the Lake Cochituate Watershed Council.

The Schedule:

Saturday, July 27 at 9 a.m. - Meet at Little Farms Rd. landing in Saxonville (it's one street north of Cameron Middle School in Framingham). There will be coffee and refreshments available. From there, participants will be assigned to boats and the trip can begin
Note: Participants can depart from Little Farms Road and leave their cars at the Wayland boat dock. They will be shuttled back to Little Farms Road to begin the paddling trip.
until 11 a.m. - The paddling trip will depart once everyone has a boat and life jacket. The trip will head downriver, stopping to enjoy lunch or a snack at the Greenway Landing, then continuing on the Route 20 boat ramp.

To Bring:

- Your own canoe, kayak, paddles and life jackets, if possible. Some boats and life jackets will be available.
- Mid-trip snack
- Any readings or reflections you'd like to share.
- Hat
- Water bottle
- Sunblock
