Grosse Pointe Symphony Hosts Winter Concert

Mark your calendars for Feb 9 at thee Grosse Pointe War Memorial 32 Lake Shore Grosse Pointe Farms.

GROSSE POINTE, MI — The Grosse Pointe Symphony will host its winter concert at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial 32 Lake Shore Grosse Pointe Farms. Guest Conductor Alexander Mishnaevski, former principal viola DSO, will be featured, along with the winner and runner up of the Nester Scholarhip competition.

Grosse Pointe Park South student Ian Plansker is the winner and will play his own composition Rondo for Flute and Orchestra. Alfonzo Keller-Casielles runner up will play the second movement of the Tchaikovsky violin concerto.

A special feature of this program is the performance of the Gounod Petite Symphony for winds, no strings. The full orchestra will play the Bach Orchestra Suite no 2 and Richard Rodgers Victory at Sea.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and K-12 are free. Tickets are available on line at gpsymphony.org or at the door.
