Police have 6-hour standoff with suicidal man
A man who was reportedly suicidal had a six-hour standoff with police overnight in Grosse Pointe.

GROSSE POINTE, MI — A 47-year-old man who was reportedly suicidal was taken into police custody early Monday morning following a night-long standoff with authorities, media outlets reported.
Police responded to the home in the 700 block of Rivard around 1:30 a.m. and closed off the road just south of Mack Avenue while a special response team attempted to make contact with the man inside the home, reported WDIV. The man was reportedly suicidal, according to the 911 call placed.
Police were ultimately able to reach him through his attorney, The Detroit News reported. No weapons were recovered in the home and authorities told The Detroit News he was more of a danger to himself than to others. He was taken into police custody around 7:30 a.m.
