2 Eastview High School Students Win Congressional App Challenge

The challenge is an annual competition to promote computer science among students.

APPLE VALLEY, MN — U.S. Representative Angie Craig Friday announced two Eastview High School students as the winners of the Congressional App Challenge in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District.

The challenge is an annual competition to promote computer science among students. Local winners Nathan Labiosa and Akansha Kamineni — who are seniors — designed an app to promote recycling.

Their app helps people understand which of their household items can be recycled by taking a short quiz were inspired to build their app by their belief in social responsibility and protecting the environment.

"I’m incredibly proud to announce Nathan Labiosa and Akansha Kamineni as the winners of the Congressional App Challenge in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District," Craig said in a statement.

"Now more than ever, it is crucial for Americans to act as responsible stewards of the world around us – and Nathan and Akansha’s innovative and commonsense app could help us all to do exactly that. I’m incredibly impressed by this accomplishment and optimistic about the future of our state with young folks like Nathan and Akansha leading the way."
