Air Quality Alert Issued For Twin Cities Metro

Poor air quality will continue in the metro area for the next couple of days, thanks to stagnant weather conditions.

TWIN CITIES, MN — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued an air quality alert for fine particle pollution for central Minnesota, including Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and the surrounding area.

Fine particles rose into the orange category in the Twin Cities metro area Tuesday morning due to "stagnant weather conditions," according to the agency. The orange category means conditions are unhealthy for certain sensitive groups.

Light winds and clear skies have led to poor dispersion and air pollutants becoming trapped near the ground. The poor air quality will continue for the next couple of days, the agency said.
