The Eastview Community Foundation will host its third-annual Summer Garden Party on Thursday, August 16. Funds raised at the Summer Garden Party will benefit scholarships, grants and random acts of kindness (RAK) funds for Eastview area schools.
One grant designated in 2012 supported a community garden at Scott Highlands Middle School and Highland Elementary school. Funds were made available for a hands- on tools for food and nutrition education, as well as service learning related to the project. Middle school and elementary students will share garden responsibilities by making weekly visits to the garden to water, weed, touch, taste and learn about the food they are growing.
And at the Summer Garden Party, attendees will be able to bid on a gift basket that will contain items provided by the community garden.
