Jeff McCormick of Apple Valley Receives Excellence in Youth Employment Award

Jeff McCormick, of McCormick Computer Resale, Inc. in Apple Valley, received an Excellence in Youth Employment Services Award at the Dakota-Scott Workforce Investment Board’s annual legislative and awards event in December.

The award, sponsored by Dakota Electric, is presented to an organization, program, employer or an individual in Dakota County who has demonstrated a commitment to and effectiveness in preparing young people ages 14–21 to enter the workforce. 

The first student in the Rosemount High School work experience program placed at McCormick Computer Resale is now the company’s sales manager, said Barb Starr, who nominated McCormick for the award. Other students became full or part-time employees while they continued their post-secondary training, she said in the release. 

The Dakota-Scott Workforce Investment Board oversees employment programs and WorkForce Centers in Dakota and Scott Counties including sites in Burnsville, Shakopee and West St. Paul.
