Kids: Join Dakota County Libraries' Summer Reading Program

Kids to age 12, readers and pre-readers alike, are invited to join the Summer Reading Program. To participate, pick up a reading record at any Dakota County Library (excluding South St. Paul) June 11–Aug. 18 or sign up early at the Rhythm & Words Festival on June 9 at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center.

Kids can check out a new book or magazine, borrow one from a friend, read a favorite from home or listen to audiobooks. Then, record the amount of time spent reading or listening. Kids earn small prizes when they reach 10 and 20 hours. The Summer Reading Program also offers storytimes, book clubs, book discussion groups and other events and activities designed to get kids excited about reading over the summer.

Kids can also complete an activities game card to be eligible to win a grand prize Nook Color™ eReader at each branch. The Summer Reading Program is sponsored in part by Jostens.
