Miesville Ravine Park Reserve Reopens

Miesville Ravine Park Reserve reopened Friday, Aug. 3 at noon after being closed since July 10 due to storm damage. The storm caused downed trees blocking trails, bridges, boardwalks, and the township road leading to the park; damage to parking lots; washed out ravines; and mud in the shelter and restrooms.

The entrance road to the park has been repaired by the township.

All of the hiking trails, with the exception of a short segment of a hiking trail along the Cannon River, are restored and ready to be enjoyed.

Some sections of the park, including an area south of the Orlando Trail, will remain closed due to erosion and may take several more months to restore. It’s important that people stay within the open areas of the park. Signs are posted clearly identifying which areas are still closed.

Dakota County recommends that visitors stay on the trails, do not enter any closed portions of the trails, and exercise extreme caution if they should wander off-trail.

Information on the status of the closed areas in the park is available on the park kiosk and at www.dakotacounty.us, search Miesville Regional Park Reserve.
