Apple Valley Chamber Asks Walz For Reopening Timeline

The letter was sent Monday and urged Walz to create a firm plan with a timeline to reopen Minnesota, at least for the warmer months.

APPLE VALLEY, MN— The Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce sent a letter to Governor Tim Walz on Monday, urging him to make a plan to fully open the state, the chamber said Tuesday.

The letter asked Walz and his commissioners to come up with a firm plan, complete with a timeline, to reopen Minnesota.

The chamber said that businesses and their customers "all know the proper precautions especially during the warmer months that are to follow."

The letter said that the chamber feels the state of Minnesota is ready to fully reopen.

The letter addressed the struggle of businesses during the pandemic, saying customers now know how to follow guidelines.

The chamber also said in its letter that students are anxious to get back to school after missing out on over a year of in-person learning.

The letter further said that Walz should at least open the state up during the summer months and could close it down again if another outbreak occurs, and that COVID-19 is not an emergency anymore.

The letter was signed by the President of the chamber, Edward Kearny, and Chamber Chair Eric Allen.

The chamber posted a copy of the letter on its website, urging residents to send Walz their own letters.
