Apple Valley Company Donates $30k To Texas Relief

$15,000 each will go to the American Red Cross in Texas and Water Mission, a disaster response company.

APPLE VALLEY, MN—Uponor North America, a building and structural solutions company based out of Apple Valley, recently announced that it had donated $30,000 to Texas relief efforts.

The American Red Cross in the Central and South Texas Region, as well as Water Mission, are both receiving $15,000 to help them continue to provide supplies and plumbing repairs to those affected by the deep freeze in Texas in February, Uponor said.

The American Red Cross has deployed over 280 volunteers and has supplied over 81,000 meals, 16,400 cleaning and comfort kits, provided 7,700 overnight stays, and has helped 1,300 people with physical, mental, or spiritual health needs, Uponor said.

In addition to food and shelter, plumbing repairs are another great need for Texans, Uponor said.

“I spoke with a CEO of a major plumbing company in Austin, and they were already short on plumbers because of the explosive growth in the area,” Rogers Hook, Water Mission Strategic Partnership Director, said. “They have more than 1,000 jobs on the calendar, which are all emergency calls to get water restored. They’re estimating it will take up to two months to meet the demand.”

Water Mission has developed a DIY kit for homeowners to make temporary repairs to their plumbing until professional plumbers are able to assist, Uponor said.

“Our hearts go out to those in Texas impacted by the extreme weather and the damage caused to homes and businesses,” Bill Gray, president of Uponor North America, said. “We understand the importance of clean, healthy water and proudly stand behind the trade professionals who work hard every day to ensure our plumbing systems are delivering this life resource consistently and reliably. We are honored to financially support the American Red Cross and Water Mission as they help Texans in need and work to reestablish clean-water resources throughout the state.”

Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimated that in 2020, more than 50 million Americans would not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations. Find out how you can donate in your community or find a food pantry near you.
